Holy Hieromartyr Ephraim, Bishop of Selenga Holy Hieromartyr Ephrajson Ephraim, Bishop of Selenga, was a courageous and faithful servant of God who lived during the early 20th century in Russia. He was born into a devout Christian family and from a young age showed a deep love for the Church. As he grew older, Ephraim felt a calling to serve the Lord and dedicated his life to the priesthood. He was ordained a priest and later consecrated as a bishop, serving the faithful with great humility and love. He worked tirelessly to spread the Gospel and defend the Orthodox faith against persecution and oppression. During the turbulent times of the Russian Revolution, Bishop Ephraim remained steadfast in his faith, refusing to compromise his beliefs. He fearlessly spoke out against the atheistic regime and continued to minister to his flock despite the dangers he faced. In 1922, Bishop Ephraim was arrested by the Soviet authorities for his unwavering devotion to the Church. He was subjected to torture and imprisonment, but he never wavered in his faith. On December 21, 1922, he was martyred for his steadfast commitment to Christ. Bishop Ephraim is venerated as a holy hieromartyr in the Orthodox Church, and his icon is often depicted with a halo symbolizing his sanctity. He is a shining example of courage and faithfulness, and his memory is honored by believers as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the martyrs for the sake of the Gospel.
