Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon, also known as Saint Panteleimon, is a highly revered saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church. He is celebrated as a miraculous healer and a great martyr who suffered for his faith in Christ. Saint Panteleimon was born in Nicomedia, Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), in the late 3rd century. He was raised in a Christian family and received a medical education, becoming a skilled physician. Despite his medical prowess, Saint Panteleimon always attributed his healing abilities to the grace of God. According to tradition, Saint Panteleimon performed numerous miracles, healing the sick and even raising the dead. He freely provided medical care to the poor and needy, refusing payment for his services. His compassionate and selfless deeds earned him the title of "the Great Healer." During the persecution of Christians under the Roman Emperor Diocletian, Saint Panteleimon openly professed his faith in Christ and continued to heal and comfort his fellow believers. He was arrested, tortured, and eventually martyred for refusing to renounce his Christian faith. Saint Panteleimon"s feast day is celebrated on July 27th in the Eastern Orthodox Church. He is often depicted in icons as a young man in a physician"s robe, holding a medicine box and a cross. Many Orthodox Christians venerate Saint Panteleimon as a powerful intercessor and healer in times of sickness and trouble. Through the prayers of Saint Panteleimon, may we be granted healing of soul and body, and may our faith be strengthened in the face of adversity.
