Saint Reverend Simeon of Pskov-Pechersk Saint Reverend Simeon of Pskov-Pechersk, also known as Simeon of Verkhoturye, was a Russian Orthodox monk and saint who lived in the 15th century. He is venerated as a holy ascetic and wonderworker in the Russian Orthodox Church. Saint Simeon was born in the town of Polotsk in present-day Belarus. He entered the monastery of the Caves in Kiev at a young age and later moved to the Pskov-Pechersk Monastery in northern Russia. There, he devoted himself to a life of prayer, fasting, and asceticism. Saint Simeon was known for his strict adherence to the monastic rule and his unwavering faith. He spent long hours in prayer and meditation, and his deep spiritual insights attracted many followers who sought his guidance and blessing. Saint Simeon performed numerous miracles during his lifetime, including healing the sick, casting out demons, and calming storms. He was also known for his humility and compassion towards all who came to him for help. After his repose, Saint Simeon"s relics were found to be incorrupt and emitting a sweet fragrance. He was officially canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church and is venerated as a saint to this day. Icons of Saint Reverend Simeon of Pskov-Pechersk often depict him in the traditional garb of a monk, with a halo of light around his head symbolizing his holiness and spiritual enlightenment. These icons are venerated by the faithful as a means of seeking the saint"s intercession and blessing in times of need.
