Saint Spyridon of Trimifuntsky Saint Spyridon of Trimifuntsky was a 4th-century bishop and miracle-worker who is venerated as a saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church. He is particularly beloved in the Greek Orthodox tradition. Iconography of Saint Spyridon typically depicts him as a bishop, holding a Gospel book in one hand and making a gesture of blessing with the other. He is often shown with a shepherd"s staff, symbolizing his pastoral care for his flock. Saint Spyridon is also often depicted with scenes from his life, such as the miracle of the clay pot, in which he is said to have miraculously restored a broken clay pot to demonstrate the concept of the Holy Trinity. Another common scene is the Council of Nicaea, where Saint Spyridon is said to have defended the divinity of Christ against the Arian heresy. Devotion to Saint Spyridon is widespread among Orthodox Christians, who pray to him for help in times of need, especially for healing and protection. He is considered a powerful intercessor and a model of faith and humility. His feast day is celebrated on December 12th in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
