Ceiling rosette is a popular and beautiful decorative element used in different interior styles.
The rosette can be made on a CNC machine or on a 3d printer using our 3d stl models.
We have a huge range of more than 200 models.
Which option to choose?
This is what we will talk about in today's article.
Selection criteria:
There are certain rules when choosing a socket.
It must correspond to:
- The size of the lighting fixture
- The area of the room and the height of the ceiling (too large sockets on a small area and low ceiling will look a little "pressing", excessive, and too small on a high ceiling in a spacious room - too clumpy, ridiculous)
- Interior style (as you know, each style prefers its own decor and ornaments, hence the choice of a suitable option - more details below).
For greater clarity it is desirable to have a sketch, visualization of the finished interior with the ceiling, chandelier, all the furnishings. It is good if you work with a designer. In this case, he will help you choose the right option.
In addition to the general view of the room, it is important to have a drawing of the ceiling with the exact dimensions and the bridge of the location of the lamp (or lamps, if you plan to install several chandeliers). And also with the ceiling decor, if any is planned. In this case, it will be easier to determine the size of the socket, its shape. And do not make mistakes, which later will be much more difficult to correct.
In addition, important data when choosing a socket under the chandelier can be and the method of attachment, the design of the chandelier, the features of the place of connection with the wiring, the material of the socket itself.
Dimensions:
There are certain rules for choosing the size of the outlet, designed to create a harmonious space:
- First, pay attention to the area of the ceiling. If it is more than 15 square meters, then the size of the outlet should be at least 40 cm in diameter. Otherwise, this decorative element will simply be lost in such a large space and will not produce the proper effect. And, accordingly, vice versa.
- Secondly, the higher the room, the more acceptable tiered designs in the ceiling decor. This also applies to outlets. The ceiling is low? Choose outlets simple, with a flat decoration. High? You can take more voluminous and complex options.
- Thirdly, take into account the chandelier and its size. Socket usually corresponds to the diameter of the lighting fixture and its base. For large and luxurious chandeliers - more beautiful and larger sockets. For small and simple - simpler and more laconic ceiling decor.
Style choice:
The decor on the rosette should match the overall style of the interior.
- Stylization under the cultures of the ancient world (Egypt, Rome, Hellas) - a rare but possible option. If the interior uses elements of such styles, their motifs, the rosette will be a blossoming lotus flower.
- If the interior is decorated in the Baroque style, then the ceiling will be characterized by a rich decorative design. These can be cells-coffins, each of which will have its own small rosette. At the same time, the central molding under the chandelier should be the most active, brightly pronounced. In some cases, it can even be emphasized by LED lighting or painted in another color. But at the same time, the entire ceiling decor should be made in approximately the same style.
- If classicism or empire is chosen, then the decor is also located throughout the ceiling. Usually these are overlays in the form of floral garlands (in classicism) or geometric decor (in Empire style). Decor and moldings can be decorated with gilding. If the ceiling is large and includes several chandeliers, each of them will be decorated with its own rosette. And the sockets may differ in size (for example, the central, the largest, the rest are smaller), but should be made in the same style.
- Neoclassic - laconic and simpler. Here a beautiful carved rosette can be the only element of ceiling decoration. The color will be light, even, monotonous. The decor is laconic and graceful.
- Gothic prefers the following motifs in the decor: the rosette has an elongated shape, with corners, as in lancet arches. The decoration is lily, iris or rosehip (favorite decorative ornaments of the Gothic style). The color of such a rosette can be dark (it can be dark wood or any other material painted black, chocolate).
- In modern styles, there are also sockets for ceiling lamps. They are classic round or asymmetrical. The ornament is geometric or vegetative, minimalist. The color of unpainted concrete or metallic can be used.
The socket can be emphasized by LED lighting, located on the perimeter. Or it can be decorated with gold plating. It can be complemented by other ceiling decor. Or act solo. The main thing that the decor of the outlet was made in a uniform style with the rest of the decor in the room and with the finish as a whole.
Material:
- Previously, all rosettes were made of stone, by hand. But this work is long, difficult, laborious and expensive.
- Plaster rosettes are also popular, created by casting.
- There are rosettes made of marble.
- Of natural wood.
- From plastic or polyurethane foam.
Of course, synthetic materials are inferior in terms of environmental friendliness, durability, safety. They are less attractive and unsuitable for repair/restoration.
Make ceiling rosettes from wood, stone, marble (or molds for casting from gypsum and other materials) can be made on CNC machines.
The machine will quickly and qualitatively create the desired product, building a cutting program based on a 3d model in stl format.
