HOLY PRINCE GLEB VLADIMIRSKY Holy Prince Gleb Vladimirovich, also known as Saint Gleb of Vladimir, was a prince of the Rurik dynasty and the son of Grand Prince Vladimir the Great of Kiev. He is venerated as a martyr and saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church. According to tradition, Gleb was murdered in 1015 by his brother, Sviatopolk the Accursed, who sought to seize power for himself. Gleb, known for his piety and humility, chose not to resist his brother"s attack and forgave him before he died. This act of forgiveness and martyrdom has made him a beloved saint in the Orthodox Church. Icons of Saint Gleb often depict him as a young prince, holding a cross or a martyr"s palm branch, symbolizing his faith and his willingness to die for Christ.
