Ksenia Peterburgskaya St. Ksenia of St. Petersburg, also known as Blessed Ksenia of Petersburg, is a beloved saint in the Russian Orthodox Church. She is especially venerated in St. Petersburg, where she lived during the 18th century.
St. Ksenia is known for her life of prayer, asceticism, and selflessness. After the death of her husband, she gave away all her possessions and lived as a homeless wanderer, relying on the charity of others. Despite her poverty, she was known for her wisdom, humility, and ability to perform miracles.
In Orthodox iconography, St. Ksenia is often depicted as a woman in humble clothing, with a headscarf and holding a cross. She is sometimes shown with a candle, symbolizing her constant prayer, or with a city in the background to represent St. Petersburg.
Many Orthodox Christians turn to St. Ksenia in times of need, asking for her intercession in matters of poverty, homelessness, and finding a spouse. Her feast day is celebrated on February 6th.
Icons of St. Ksenia of St. Petersburg are cherished by believers as a reminder of her example of faith, sacrifice, and trust in God. They are often displayed in homes and churches as a source of inspiration and prayer.
