Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos

Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos Icons are an important part of Orthodox Christian worship and devotion. They are not simply decorations, but are considered to be windows to the heavenly realm, through which the faithful can experience the presence of Christ, the saints, and the angels. The Most Holy Theotokos, or the Mother of God, holds a special place in Orthodox theology and devotion. Icons of the Most Holy Theotokos often depict her with outstretched arms, sheltering and protecting all who come to her in faith and devotion. Just as she protected the faithful in Constantinople, so too does she continue to protect and intercede for all who call upon her name. In times of trouble and uncertainty, Orthodox Christians turn to the Most Holy Theotokos for comfort and strength, confident in her maternal love and care. Through her prayers and intercessions, they trust in her protection and seek refuge in her loving embrace.
