Saint Ariadne Saint Ariadne, also known as Saint Ariadna, was a Christian martyr who lived during the time of the Roman Empire. She is venerated as a saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church and her feast day is celebrated on September 18th.
According to tradition, Saint Ariadne was a young woman who lived in the city of Phrygia in Asia Minor. She was known for her beauty and her strong faith in Christ. When the Roman authorities began persecuting Christians, Saint Ariadne openly declared her faith and refused to renounce it.
As a result, Saint Ariadne was arrested and brought before the governor, who tried to persuade her to worship the Roman gods. However, she remained steadfast in her faith and refused to abandon Christ. The governor then ordered her to be tortured and eventually martyred.
Saint Ariadne"s courage and faith in the face of persecution have made her a beloved saint in the Orthodox Church. She is often depicted in icons as a young woman dressed in traditional Roman clothing, holding a cross or a martyr"s palm. Her icon is venerated by the faithful as a reminder of her steadfast faith and devotion to Christ. May we also be inspired by her example to remain faithful to our beliefs, even in the face of adversity.
