Saint Reverend Simeon of Pskov-Pechersk Saint Reverend Simeon of Pskov-Pechersk, also known as Simeon of Verkhoturye, was a Russian Orthodox monk and saint who lived in the 15th century. He is venerated in the Russian Orthodox Church for his ascetic life, humility, and miracles. Saint Simeon was born in the town of Gorodets in the Pskov region of Russia. At a young age, he felt a calling to the monastic life and entered the monastery of the Caves in Pskov, where he dedicated himself to prayer, fasting, and contemplation. Saint Simeon"s life was marked by numerous miracles and acts of compassion. He was known for his gift of healing the sick, casting out demons, and calming storms. Many people sought his counsel and guidance, and he was revered for his wisdom and spiritual insight. Saint Simeon lived a life of extreme asceticism, often going without food or sleep in order to focus on his prayers and spiritual practices. Despite his austere lifestyle, he was filled with love and compassion for all people, and he worked tirelessly to help those in need. Saint Simeon reposed in the Lord in 1641, and his relics were found to be incorrupt. He was canonized as a saint by the Russian Orthodox Church, and his memory is celebrated on September 24th.
