Volkswagen K70 (Typ48) 1971 The Volkswagen K70 (Typ48) is a mid-size sedan that was produced by Volkswagen from 1970 to 1974. It was the first front-wheel drive car produced by Volkswagen and was designed to compete in the mid-size segment of the market.
The K70 featured a sleek and modern design with a distinctive front grille and quad headlights. It was powered by a range of inline-four engines, including a 1.6-liter and a 1.8-liter unit, which were mated to a manual transmission.
The interior of the K70 was spacious and comfortable, with seating for up to five passengers. The dashboard featured a simple and functional layout, with all the necessary controls within easy reach of the driver.
Despite its innovative design and good handling characteristics, the K70 was not a commercial success for Volkswagen. Production ceased in 1974 after just over 200,000 units were produced.
Today, the Volkswagen K70 is a rare and sought-after classic car, prized for its unique design and historical significance as Volkswagen"s first front-wheel drive model.
