MIR Space Station Complex The MIR Space Station Complex was a series of space stations that were launched by the Soviet Union and later Russia. The core module, known as MIR, was launched in 1986 and served as the central hub for various additional modules and components that were added over the years.
The MIR complex was used for a variety of scientific research, experiments, and international collaborations. It also served as a testing ground for long-duration space missions, with cosmonauts and astronauts living and working on board for months at a time.
The complex was visited by crews from various countries, including the United States, European countries, and Japan. It was operational for 15 years, until it was deorbited in 2001, ending its mission as one of the longest-serving human spaceflight outposts in history.
