He 111 The Heinkel He 111 was a German aircraft used during World War II as a medium bomber. It was designed by the Heinkel Flugzeugwerke company and was known for its distinctive "greenhouse" cockpit design. The He 111 was used extensively by the Luftwaffe in various roles, including bombing missions, reconnaissance, and transport.
The He 111 had a crew of five or six, depending on the variant, and was powered by two engines, typically Daimler-Benz DB 601 or Junkers Jumo 211 engines. It had a top speed of around 270 mph and a range of approximately 1,500 miles.
The He 111 was used in many major campaigns during World War II, including the Battle of Britain, the Blitz on London, and the Eastern Front. It was eventually phased out of service by the end of the war, as more advanced aircraft became available.
Today, there are only a few surviving Heinkel He 111 aircraft left, with some on display in museums around the world.
