It was designed and built by Scaled Composites for Virgin Galactic"s commercial space tourism program. The White Knight Two has a unique twin-fuselage design and is capable of carrying the SpaceShipTwo to high altitudes before releasing it for its suborbital flight. It is powered by four Pratt & Whitney Canada PW308A engines and has a wingspan of 140 feet. The White Knight Two has played a crucial role in Virgin Galactic"s efforts to make space tourism a reality.
